The Coronavirus Pandemic: How You Can Partner With Us In Combating Covid-19 Effects

The Covid-19 effects have undoubtedly hit us all with the many lives and business activities completely put on a halt. The Covid-19 pandemic has left a massive impact on us with unemployment at its highest toll in just three months of the outbreak, even more than the entire two years of the great recession.

Most businesses are completely shut while activities like education, manufacturing, tourism, and the likes are almost non-existence in many countries.

While everyone is feeling the heat of the virus, many developing countries are worst hit and are thus more vulnerable to the virus outbreak. However, while everyone is trying to stay safe, a group of individuals with large hearts is consistently risking their lives to ensure that the underprivileged can manage the corona effects to a reasonable extent. Viruses don’t pay attention to borders, and humanitarian assistance shouldn’t too. In this regard, we have a better chance of coming out of these crucial times if we work together.

In this article, we’ll examine how volunteers and donors can partner with us at Goshen Humanitarian Organization to offer assistance to the disadvantaged countries that are most susceptible to the effects of coronavirus.

Protect the vulnerable populace

Whether as donors or NGOs, it’s our joint responsibility to come together in supporting the vulnerable populace. This includes countries that are less equipped to tackle the virus and nations being revamped by poverty and hunger. Our provisions include funds for research, healthcare treatment, as well as food. It’s also imperative that we provide palliatives and other relief materials for people whose jobs have been stopped as a result of the pandemic.

Secure the essential workers

We should realize that doctors and emergency response teams are at the forefront of the fight against the virus as they keep providing support for the victims. This makes them susceptible to the virus. As such, both volunteers and donors need to provide essential workers with health supports and better safety gear. We have been actively involved in this at GHO, and we seek more support to better implement this.

Support countries that are hit economically

While African countries happen to be least hit by a coronavirus, their economies are feeling the brunt of the pandemic. Although governments and World organizations have responded by providing aids to the healthcare centers, GHO is currently taking a giant stride in these regards.

For instance, part of our program covers the distribution f relief materials and other essentials to alleviate COVID-19 effects. We’re also currently sponsoring 52 schools in DR CONGO in terms of wellness and feeding.  In addition, GHO is sponsoring the bills of underprivileged women in Africa while constructing free healthcare facilities across various developing countries.

Strengthen the health systems

The fact is that no country is fully prepared to handle the pandemic. In 2005, after the SARS saga, 196 countries registered under the International Health Regulations (IHRs). This organization was set up to issue out health regulations to member countries. Unfortunately, no country seems to be fully complying with the regulations of the IHR.

The Global Health Security Index that measures the health security of countries affirmed that even high-income countries only score an average of 50% out of 100%. This invariably means that low-income countries score quite low in their capacity to detect, prevent, or respond to the virus outbreak. Consequently, we need the voluntary service of professionals in the health industry to combat Covid-19 effects in their home countries. Also, donors can support through the provision of funds.

How can you help?

All countries remain vulnerable to the health crisis regardless of where it originated from. Health security is the best shot we have to tackle the virus collectively. Low-income regions shouldn’t be left out of this equation. Therefore, we must strive to donate to reputable humanitarian NGOs like GHO, who are at the forefront of the fight against the coronavirus.

You can contribute to this by sending in your donations as you will be easing the pandemic in low-income countries. To support our fight against the Covid-19 effect, kindly donate to support us. Individuals can also contribute by volunteering in any category. We have a better chance of tackling this virus if we work together. With you, the world can be a better place!

Together, let become the Voice of the Voiceless, the Hope of the Hopeless and the Healing Hands of the Broken ones.
