Agriculture provides a lot of employment opportunities for people in rural communities on a large scale in underdeveloped and developing communities. This is, however, one of the goals Goshen Humanitarian Organization.

GHO plays a unique role in responding to crises affecting food production, especially in rural communities.

From day one, we’ve been working tirelessly to restore and protect the livelihood of struggling farmers, herders, foresters, and fishers. In doing so, we have been able to not only save livelihoods but also help underdeveloped communities lay the foundations for long-term recovery.

Today, over 800 million people across the globe go to bed hungry every night, most of them are smallholder farmers that depend only on agriculture to make a living and feed their families.

Subsequently, with every passing year, millions of people who depend on the production, marketing and consumption of crops, fish, forests, and livestock as well as other natural resources, are confronted by a variety of crises and disasters that threaten either their livelihood, food security or both.

Despite the increase in the growth of urban slums over the last decade, nearly 85 percent of poor people in developing countries live in rural areas. Growth in the agricultural sector is twice as effective in reducing poverty as growth in other industries.

This is why, at GHO, we’ve taken it upon ourselves to raise funds for small scale farmers and provide them with necessary farm equipment to facilitate their production of food to feed and fend for their families and immediate communities.

Moreover, at Goshen humanitarian Organization, we remain engaged in the field, working with rural communities and small-scale farmers to build productive, healthy, and resilient rural livelihoods.

This includes a variety of activities such as monitoring food security trends to allow for early action, supporting food production even as conflicts are ongoing, and helping countries resume food production after they subside. We also facilitate land conflict resolutions and prevent pastoralist conflicts.

In the coming years, we are looking to disseminate farming machinery across rural communities to enable the seamless production of food crops for subsistence and commercial farmers.

With GHO, we save lives, give hope, and build a bright future
